PRACTITIONERS
Offer a Free Session
Are You a 1:1 Practitioner?
Would you like to give something back to an unpaid carer this October?
Carers Month is bringing together 1:1 practitioners from around the world who are willing to offer free sessions to unpaid carers during October.
You choose what you offer, how many sessions you’d like to provide, when you’re available and where you’d like to hold them.
It could be massage, Reiki, Pellowah, kinesiology, reflexology, sound therapy, energy work, bodywork, counselling, coaching or another appropriate wellbeing or complementary practice.
You simply offer what works for you, in your own time and from your own practice, studio or space.
How It Works
It’s very simple:
1. Decide what you’d like to offer
Choose the type of session, duration and number of free sessions you’re comfortable offering during October.
2. Complete the Practitioner Registration Form
Tell us about yourself, your practice and what you’d like to offer.
3. We’ll create your profile
Once your registration has been reviewed and approved, we’ll add your practitioner profile and free October sessions to the Carers Month website.
4. We promote Carers Month
We’ll promote the website through our social media and community networks, helping unpaid carers discover the practitioners and experiences available to them.
5. Carers contact you directly
When a carer is interested in your offering, they’ll book or enquire directly with you using the contact or booking details provided on your profile.
That’s it.
You Choose What You Can Give
There’s no requirement to offer a particular number of sessions.
You might choose to offer:
-
1 free session
-
2 or 3 sessions
-
A few sessions each week
-
A set number of sessions across October
-
Another arrangement that works for you
There is no minimum commitment. We simply ask that you only offer what you genuinely have the time and capacity to provide.
You are also welcome to choose the days, times, session length and location that suit you.
What Can I Offer?
We welcome appropriately qualified and experienced practitioners from a broad range of practices.
For example:
Massage · Reiki · Pellowah · Energy Work · Kinesiology · Reflexology · Sound Therapy · Bodywork · Bowen Therapy · Acupuncture · Counselling · Coaching · Meditation · Breathwork · Movement · Somatic Practices · Spiritual Practices · and other complementary wellbeing experiences
If your practice isn't listed, but you believe it could provide a meaningful experience for an unpaid carer, we'd still love to hear from you.
Where Do I Offer My Sessions?
You provide your sessions from your own practice, studio, clinic, home-based business or other suitable space.
You are responsible for arranging your own space, insurance, bookings and practitioner–carer arrangements.
You can also choose to offer sessions online or remotely if that is appropriate for your practice.
We are looking for practitioners all over the world, so carers can access a diverse range of free experiences wherever they are located.
Your Practitioner Profile
Once you've completed the registration form and your participation has been confirmed, we'll create a profile for you on the Carers Month website.
Your profile can include:
-
Your name and business
-
Your location
-
Your website and/or social media
-
Your qualifications or professional background
-
The practice or modality you're offering
-
How many free sessions you're offering
-
Session duration
-
Available dates and times
-
Whether sessions are in person, online or remote
-
Your booking or contact details
-
Information about what carers can expect from the session
This allows carers to browse the available offerings and choose something that feels right for them.
Bookings Are Directly With You
Carers will contact or book with you directly.
Carers Month does not take bookings, collect payments or manage your appointments.
You remain responsible for communicating with the carer, confirming their appointment and providing the session.
This means the arrangement is essentially the same as if someone contacted you directly to enquire about receiving your services — Carers Month simply provides the platform that helps connect you with unpaid carers.
Your Professional Responsibilities
As an independent practitioner, you remain responsible for your own professional practice.
You must have any qualifications, accreditation, registration, professional membership and insurance that are appropriate and required for the service you are offering.
You are also responsible for:
-
Your own venue or practice space
-
Your professional insurance
-
Your own bookings and appointment management
-
Any client forms or screening you normally require
-
Your professional boundaries and standards of practice
-
Providing appropriate information to carers before their session
-
Managing any cancellations or changes to appointments
There Is No Cost to Carers
Your Carers Month session must be offered completely free of charge.
There should be no expectation that the carer purchases another service, makes a donation or books a further session.
You are welcome to provide your normal business contact details so a carer can choose to contact you in the future, but we ask that there are no sales pitches or pressure to purchase additional services.
Our Role
Carers Month is a community-led platform, not a service provider.
Our role is simply to:
-
Create the Carers Month website
-
List participating practitioners and their free October offerings
-
Promote the website through social media and community networks
-
Help unpaid carers discover opportunities available to them
We do not provide, supervise or manage the sessions.
We do not act as an agent for practitioners or carers, and we do not enter into the practitioner–carer arrangement.
Important Disclaimer
All practitioners listed on the Carers Month website are independent providers.

Practitioners are responsible for their own professional practice, qualifications, insurance, venues, bookings and sessions.
Carers are encouraged to review the information provided, make their own enquiries and consider whether a particular practitioner or session is appropriate for them before booking.
