VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer With Us
Help Us Make Carers Month Happen
Carers Month is being created and delivered by volunteers, and we need people who are willing to give a little of their time to help make the events run smoothly.
You don't need to be a wellbeing practitioner or have event experience. You just need to be reliable, friendly and willing to help.
Whether you have strong organisational skills, enjoy working behind the scenes or simply want to be a welcoming and compassionate presence for carers, there’s a place for you.
What Could You Help With?
There are lots of different ways to volunteer, including:
-
Welcoming and greeting carers
-
Helping carers find their sessions and activities
-
Registration and checking people in
-
Helping practitioners and facilitators
-
Keeping the event running smoothly
-
Setting up rooms and activity spaces
-
Preparing refreshments and morning or afternoon tea
-
Helping with tea, coffee and hospitality
-
Assisting with directions and general enquiries
-
Running local errands when needed
-
Helping with equipment and resources
-
Supporting activities and group sessions
-
Taking photos or helping with social media, where appropriate
-
Keeping shared areas tidy throughout the day
-
Packing down and cleaning up at the end of the event
-
Being a friendly face and a compassionate ear for carers
Different Skills, Different Roles
You don't have to be highly organised to be useful.
Perhaps you're someone who can coordinate a room, solve problems and keep everything moving.
Perhaps you're great at welcoming people and making them feel comfortable.
Perhaps you'd rather make tea, help set up, run an errand or simply sit with someone who needs a friendly conversation.
Every role matters.
Volunteer Shifts
Volunteer needs will vary between locations and events.
You may be able to help for:
A few hours · A morning · An afternoon · A full day · Set-up or pack-down
We'll work with you to find a role and timeframe that suits your availability.
What We Ask From Volunteers
We ask our volunteers to:
-
Be reliable and arrive at their agreed time
-
Treat carers, practitioners and other volunteers with respect
-
Maintain appropriate boundaries
-
Be welcoming, patient and compassionate
-
Follow the directions of the event organisers
-
Let us know as soon as possible if they can no longer attend
-
Respect the privacy and confidentiality of carers and participants
-
Help create a welcoming, inclusive and safe environment
Supporting Carers
Some carers may arrive feeling tired, overwhelmed or unsure about attending an event.
You don't need to have all the answers.
Sometimes a friendly welcome, a cup of tea, a smile or someone willing to listen can make a real difference.
We're not asking volunteers to provide counselling or professional support. Your role is simply to help create an environment where carers feel welcomed, respected and comfortable.
No Experience Required
You don't need event management experience, qualifications or a background in wellbeing to volunteer.
We'll provide information about your role and what you need to know before the event.
If you have particular skills or experience that you think could help — event coordination, administration, hospitality, photography, social media, logistics, decorating, first aid or something else — please tell us when you register.
A Community Effort
Carers Month exists because people are willing to contribute what they can.
Some people are donating their professional skills. Some are providing venues, refreshments or resources. Others are giving a few hours of their time to help set up chairs, welcome guests or pack everything away at the end of the day.
That's what community supporting community looks like.
Want to Volunteer?
We'd love to hear from you.
Complete our Volunteer Registration Form and tell us a little about yourself, where you'd like to help and what you're interested in doing.
You don't need to know exactly what role you'd like. If you simply want to help, we'll work with you to find where you can make the biggest difference.
Thank you for being part of Carers Month 2026.
