Bring Carers Month to Your Community
Would you like to bring Carers Month to your region?
We’re looking for community-minded people, groups and local organisers who would like to help create a Carers Month event in their own area during October 2026.
You might already have a community hall, local venue or suitable space, or you may simply know your community and want to bring people together. You could help bring local practitioners and facilitators together to offer free sessions and experiences for unpaid carers in your area.
If you have the idea, the local connections or the venue, we'd love to hear from you.
What Could a Regional Event Look Like?
There is no single format for a Carers Month event.
Your event could include:

Free one-to-one wellbeing sessions

Group wellbeing experiences

Workshops and creative activities

Inspirational talks and presentations

Music, entertainment and performances

Spiritual experiences and demonstrations
- Movie or film sessions

Nature-based activities

Opportunities for carers to connect with each other
The program can be shaped around your community, your venue and the practitioners and facilitators available in your area.
What Do We Need?
To host a Carers Month event, you'll need to help identify a suitable venue or community space where carers can comfortably attend.
Ideally, the venue will have:

A welcoming indoor space

Enough room for group activities and/or individual sessions

Accessible entry and facilities

Seating and tables
-
Access to toilets
-
Suitable lighting and ventilation
-
Access to power where required
-
Space for refreshments
-
Parking or accessible transport options where possible
Different event formats can work in different spaces, so get in touch even if you're unsure whether your venue is suitable.
Your Role as a Regional Host
You don't need to be a professional event organiser.
Your role could simply be to bring the local pieces together - helping identify a venue, connect with local practitioners, find volunteers and understand what carers in your community would enjoy.
Depending on your event, you may also help with:

Coordinating the local venue

Connecting with local practitioners and facilitators

Helping organise the program

Recruiting local volunteers

Promoting the event within your community

Helping with setup and pack-down

Making sure the day runs smoothly
We'll work with you to determine what support is needed and what is realistic for your event.
When Can Events Be Held?
Regional Carers Month events must take place during October 2026.
The exact date is up to you and will depend on venue availability, local practitioners and your proposed event.
If you'd like to organise an event in your region, contact us as early as possible so we can discuss the possibilities and include your event in the wider Carers Month program.
Connecting Practitioners & Facilitators
One of the benefits of becoming a Regional Host is being part of a wider network.
We'll help connect the Carers Month initiative with practitioners, facilitators, presenters and volunteers who may be able to contribute to your local event.
Practitioners and facilitators participating in Carers Month will go through our registration process, and relevant accreditation, qualifications and insurance requirements will apply.
Centralised Bookings
Where appropriate, your event can be included in the central Carers Month booking system, allowing carers to find your event and book their sessions or experiences through the same system used for other Carers Month events.
We'll work with you to determine what needs to be booked in advance and how your local program will be presented.
A Community-Led Approach
There isn't a prescribed formula for creating a Carers Month event.
We're interested in what your community can create together.
Maybe you have a beautiful community hall. Maybe you know a group of practitioners who would love to contribute. Maybe you have strong local connections and know what carers in your area need.
Bring what you can, and we'll work together to see what is possible.
Important Requirements
All regional events must:

Take place during October 2026

Be genuinely free for unpaid carers

Have a suitable and appropriately approved venue

Meet the relevant venue, council, insurance and safety requirements

Use appropriately qualified/accredited practitioners where required

Ensure participating practitioners and facilitators meet relevant insurance requirements

Have appropriate arrangements for accessibility and participant safety
-
Operate without sales pitches or pressure to purchase services
